Ability Action Australia is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our North Lakes team in February 2027. You will support NDIS participants in the NorthBrisbaneRegion, build collaborative plans with families and carers, and implement person-centred strategies aimed at reducing restrictive practices.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, manage a caseload with ongoing monitoring, and contribute to empowering participants to lead fuller lives in community and home

Qualificações

• NDIS framework experience with individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours.
• Degree in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or related field.
• Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions.
• Strong report writing and caseload management skills.

Responsabilidades

• Assist NDIS participants and carers to manage challenging behaviours and improve quality of life.
• Complete thorough assessments to understand triggers and risks.
• Develop Behaviour Support Plans and support families and carers.
• Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring and adjustments.

Job Description

We are looking for aBehaviour Support Practitionerto join our multi-disciplinary team in the North Lakes office in Feb 2027.

Successful candidates will be providing supports to NDIS participants living in the NorthBrisbaneRegion.

Responsibilitieswill include:

• Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, tomanage challenging behaviours to improve their quality of life, and develop new skills
• You will complete thoroughassessments to understand behaviour triggers, identifyrisks & consider specific strategies to improve behaviour outcomes
• You will develop Behaviour Support Plans andprovide support to families and/or carers, for consistent implementation
• Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring, support and make adjustments where required.
• Developmeaningful goals and practical strategiesutilising a positive behaviour support framework,with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
• Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths, as well as ensuring they get more out of life
• Buildthe knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers or friends
• Actas an advocate and role model for best practice
• Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

• Extensive experience working within the NDIS framework and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours
• Degree levelqualifications of relevance to providing supportto people with behaviours of concern eg. Psychology, Social Work, Occupational therapy, Disability Studies and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
• Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours
• Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload
