Job summary

Australian Department of Defence – Potts Point NSW seeks an Engineer in the RAN Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC) to apply and develop engineering/scientific knowledge to analyse complex systems in the fields of platform signatures and to evaluate threat susceptibility.

The role includes training on naval systems, signature analysis and machine learning, and offers opportunities for career development while supporting Navy operations.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in working for Navy and the ability to apply engineering/analytical skills to analyse, report on and minimize underwater signature vulnerabilities of the Fleet.
• Ability to cope with multi-domain problems and develop technical solutions to repair and upgrade existing signature measurement ranges.
• Experience with acoustic and magnetic signature analysis is desirable.
• System engineering, data processing and software development knowledge would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and model underwater signatures using measurement ranges and data from Ranging Systems.
• Consolidate range system requirements and contribute to next-generation naval platforms.
• Align signature analysis techniques with susceptibility metrics and military standards.
• Use data to identify vulnerabilities and inform fleet decision-making.
