Job summary

Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC) invites applications for a Nanny Station Hand 2027 in Katherine, NT. You will care for children while parents work, with station duties scheduled around childcare and schooling.

This role blends caring responsibilities with farm station duties, including light cattle work, mustering support, riding tasks, and general station maintenance. Accommodation and meals are provided, with 7 weeks annual leave and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in caring for children; nanny/childcare experience desirable.
• Previous station or farm experience, ideally with cattle handling.
• Horse riding and two-wheel motorbike experience relevant to station duties.
• Working with Children Check appropriate to the state/territory.
• Ability to work independently and in a small team; clear communication.
• Safety-minded with physical capacity for childcare and outdoor duties.
• Weekend flexibility and an unrestricted manual driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for the children whilst their parents are working, with station duties arranged around the children's care and/or early childhood schooling requirements.
• Care for and supervise the children as required and following routines agreed with their parents.
• Plan fun, creative and age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities that support the children's learning and development.
• Help coordinate daily activities and undertake light housekeeping associated with the childrens care.
• Assist with cattle mustering, drafting, processing and loading, using low stress livestock handling techniques and maintaining animal welfare standards.
• Horse riding and two wheel motorbike riding for mustering.
• Check stock watering points and assist with maintenance and fencing.
• Help with general station maintenance, repairs and livestock records as required.

What you will need

• A genuine interest in caring for children, with previous nanny, babysitting or childcare experience desirable.
• Previous station or farm experience, ideally including some cattle handling experience.
• Horse riding and two-wheel motorbike experience relevant to station duties.
• A Working with Children Check appropriate to the state or territory, or the ability to obtain one before commencing childcare duties.
• The ability to work independently, communicate clearly with parents and colleagues, and contribute to a small team.
• A practical approach to safety and the physical capacity to undertake childcare and outdoor station duties.
• Flexibility to work some weekends as required and as prearranged.
• An unrestricted current driver's licence (manual)

Physical Demands

This is a physically demanding job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments.

This job can be physically strenuous (demanding) from time to time. You will be expected to be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull from 10 - 20 kilo's and occasionally more.
