Job summary

City of Geelong is seeking two permanent part-time municipal cleaners to deliver maintenance and cleaning across facilities. The roles are 0.5 FTE (38 hours per fortnight) with start times between 5am and 6:30am, and classification Band 2 - $68,630.02 pa plus super pro rata.

The positions require adherence to safety policies and a commitment to high cleaning standards. Applicants should have experience in commercial or amenity cleaning and hold a current Victorian Drivers licence and a Working

  • Current Working with Children Check (employee).
  • National Police Check and pre-employment medical may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake various cleaning duties including toilets, showers and change rooms, litter collection and minor graffiti/stain removal.
  • Deliver amenity cleaning services across allocated sites and schedules.
  • Record cleaning times accurately and report maintenance issues as required.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, plant and equipment in line with regulations and procedures.
  • Use cleaning materials safely and appropriately under OH&S requirements.
  • Collaborate with municipal cleaners to complete schedules across shared areas.
  • Drive City vehicles in accordance with Victorian road laws and ensure assets are secure at day end.

About the role

In this role, you will perform manual cleaning tasks as well as supporting the safe and efficient delivery of services by maintaining vehicles and equipment, keeping accurate cleaning records, and proactively identifying and reporting various maintenance issues. Your attention to detail and commitment to high standards will help ensure community facilities remain clean, functional and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. There are two permanent part-time roles (both 0.5 FTE) (38 hours per fortnight). The start time for these positions is between 5am-6:30am.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake various cleaning duties including but not limited to toilet, shower and change room cleaning duties, litter collection around facilities, minor graffiti/stain removal and associated tasks.
  • Undertake amenity cleaning services across allocated sites and schedules.
  • Accurately record cleaning times for each facility and report building, plumbing, graffiti damage, hazards or maintenance issues as required.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, plant and equipment effectively, efficiently and in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Use a range of cleaning materials and equipment safely and appropriately in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with other Municipal Cleaners to ensure cleaning schedules are completed across shared service areas.
  • Drive City vehicles in accordance with Victorian road laws and regulations, and ensure vehicles, equipment and goods are secure at the end of each working day.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in commercial and/or amenity cleaning environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in a public or commercial cleaning environment, including the use of relevant chemicals.
  • Experience undertaking toilet cleaning and general cleaning.
  • Ability to use a range of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual work, including lifting, in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Ability to represent the City in a professional manner and take pride in the work being performed.
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (employee).
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
