Qualifications

• Trade qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related discipline.
• 3–5 years in food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting on electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to travel between two sites and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on breakdown and preventive maintenance activities.

About the Role

Daris Kitchen and Mama Ka'z Banana Breads are seeking a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to support our food manufacturing operations across two Sydney facilities. The role provides maintenance support for soups, dips and ready meals production at our Marrickville site, as well as banana bread, muffins, cakes and pudding production at our Auburn site.

This is a single maintenance position responsible for supporting both facilities. The successful candidate will be required to travel between the Marrickville and Auburn sites on a planned and regular basis to carry out preventive maintenance, breakdown response, continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and other engineering activities. The role requires a proactive and flexible technician who can effectively manage maintenance priorities across both locations while ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of all production and utility equipment.

Working Hours

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Flexibility is required for occasional 6:00am to 2:00pm shifts, planned or emergency maintenance outside standard hours, and occasional Saturday work. Saturday work may be paid as overtime where applicable, or an alternative roster arrangement may be implemented with a weekday off.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on breakdown and preventive maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and correct mechanical components, electrical items, instruments.
• Interpret machine manuals, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Support machine changeovers and production start-ups.
• Maintain engineering spare parts inventory and engineering stores.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and OEM machine trials.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of production and utility equipment.

Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation Skills

• Inspect, test & replace motors, gearboxes, bearings, seals, O-rings, valves, pneumatic fittings, cylinders, chain, sprockets, assemblies & drives.
• Inspect, troubleshoot & replace sensors, actuators, safety relays and Festo automation components.
• Inspect, troubleshoot & correct power and control wiring.
• Replace and commission VFDs, contactors, relays and electrical components.
• Troubleshoot HMI settings, alarms and machine control systems.
• Perform fault-finding & troubleshooting of instrumentation and control devices.
• Replacement of wheels/castors and minor repairs to material handling equipment
• External workshops visit for welding, drilling, grinding & fixing works.

Refrigeration, Compressed Air, Hot Water, Gas, Electricity & other Utilities

• Technical support on maintaining facilities of cool rooms (1°C to 5°C) and freezers (-18°C).
• Basic troubleshooting of refrigeration systems, compressed air systems, hot water system, gas meters, electrical panels boards and other site utilities.

Major Equipment Exposure

• Cooking & Processing: Electric & Gas Cooking Kettles, Gas Stoves, Processing Mixers, blenders, Gigamix Mixing Systems
• End of Line: Automatic Case Erectors, Case Packers, Tape Sealing Machines, Conveyor Systems, Collaborative Robots (Cobots) for Palletizing, Pallet wrapping machine

Warehouse & Storage Equipment

• Forklift and reach trucks, Electric Stackers, Battery charging system

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related discipline preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing, FMCG or industrial production environments, leading electro-mechanical troubleshooting directly on the production floor.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
• Good at using maintenance tools & measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently and complete all hands-on maintenance activities.
• Good communication, record keeping and organizational skills.
• Ready to learn new technology faster & help operators to learn and practice.
• Current driver's license and reliable transport are preferred.
