Job summary

Sacred Heart Mission is seeking a full-time Property Maintenance Technician to keep our Melbourne buildings safe, functional and welcoming for residents and staff. You’ll work across our diverse property portfolio including community services, residential and aged care sites, offices and shops, performing practical repairs and preventative maintenance.

This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys variety, can work independently across multiple sites and coordinate with program teams, contractors

Qualifications

• Practical, reliable and able to work independently across multiple sites.
• Experience in general maintenance or facilities roles across several sites.
• Understand workplace safety and can prioritise requests with minimal supervision.
• Ability to assess quality of contractor work and raise safety concerns when needed.

Responsibilities

• Completing general repairs and maintenance across SHM sites, including carpentry, patching and painting.
• Responding to maintenance requests and prioritising work by urgency and site needs.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and routine site inspections to identify defects.
• Completing room turnarounds between residents and preparing spaces for occupancy.
• Making sites safe after incidents and organising follow-up works where required.
• Acting as day-to-day site contact for maintenance contractors and coordinating access.
• Inspecting completed contractor works and following up defects or quality issues.
• Keeping maintenance records and contractor observations up to date in SHM’s system.
• Maintaining tools, spares and sourcing materials within delegated limits.
• Supporting relocations, furniture moves, deliveries and event setup.
• Planning daily travel across multiple sites to respond to priorities.
• Working safely and engaging qualified contractors for higher-risk works.
