Job summary

Tarkine Consulting is supporting a major insurance client on a MuleSoft/Integration Platform engagement, building testing capability for a newly formed MuleSoft squad. This is a hands-on role focused on validating MuleSoft APIs deployed on CloudHub, not generic UI automation.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on MuleSoft API testing experience plus REST API fundamentals (REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot), and a track record of implementing automated regression suites within CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in senior automation/API testing roles.
• Hands-on MuleSoft API testing experience, including CloudHub.
• Strong REST API testing fundamentals with REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Validate MuleSoft APIs on CloudHub with end-to-end functional tests.
• Build and maintain automated API regression suites with data-driven tests.
• Contribute to MuleSoft platform testing and API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Create and use service virtualization (Hoverfly/WireMock) to stabilize tests.
• Embed MuleSoft API test automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub workflows.
• Support API security and observability (Splunk/New Relic) and performance testing (Gatling/JMeter).

Tarkine Consulting is supporting a major insurance client on a MuleSoft/Integration Platform engagement, helping stand up testing capability for a newly formed MuleSoft squad. As part of this work, we're looking to engage a senior Automation Tester with genuine hands-on MuleSoft platform experience to join an established delivery team.

This is a hands-on role by design, centred on validating MuleSoft APIs deployed on CloudHub rather than general web automation. You don't need to be a pure MuleSoft specialist — a blend of established API automation fundamentals (REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot) alongside genuine MuleSoft platform exposure is exactly the mix that works well here.

The role

You’ll contribute to end-to-end testing of MuleSoft-based APIs, with a strong emphasis on automation and integration quality.

Responsibilities typically include:

• Validating MuleSoft APIs hosted on CloudHub through end-to-end functional API tests — request/response behaviour, error handling, and downstream interactions — using Bruno/Bruno CLI or Postman
• Building and maintaining automated API regression suites for Mule flows, with data-driven testing and JSON/XML schema validation
• Contributing to MuleSoft platform testing using Anypoint Platform knowledge, validating deployed APIs and specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Creating and using service virtualisation/mocking (Hoverfly/WireMock) to stabilise automated testing during migration and change
• Embedding MuleSoft API test automation into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub workflows as quality gates
• Supporting API security and observability (Splunk/New Relic), alongside performance testing (Gatling/JMeter)

What we're looking for

• 5+ years' experience in senior automation/API testing roles
• Genuinely hands-on MuleSoft API testing experience, ideally including CloudHub
• Strong REST API testing fundamentals — REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot, Bruno/Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI
• JSON/XML schema validation and real data-driven test design
• CI/CD experience via GitHub/GitHub workflows, and mocking/service virtualisation (Hoverfly, WireMock)
• Solid grounding in containerisation, microservices, API security, distributed tracing, and cloud concepts
• Comfortable with Agile/SAFe delivery and stakeholder management
• Experience with Anypoint Platform, MUnit, or DataWeave specifically is highly regarded but not essential — genuine platform exposure across any of these is a strong signal
• Insurance or banking domain exposure is beneficial but not essential

• 6 month contract to start, with strong extension potential
