Job summary

INPEX seeks a MRO & Chemicals Senior Contracts Advisor to lead end-to-end contracting activities from Perth. You will manage tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and post-award processes, aligning with business objectives and JV partner requirements.

The role emphasizes supplier performance, risk mitigation, and compliance with local content and modern slavery standards within a complex operating environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Law or equivalent.
  • CIPS or equivalent procurement qualification.
  • Experience managing end-to-end contracting across multiple models with spend > US$40 million annually.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and market-trend awareness.
  • Experience with SAP and SAP Ariba CLMS in sourcing and post-award.

We are seeking a MRO & Chemicals Senior Contracts Advisor to join our INPEX Contracts & Procurement team in Perth in a permanent position. Join us in helping shape a brighter energy future.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies that align with business objectives
  • Lead end-to-end contracting activities including, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award and variations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure effective contract coverage.
  • Support stakeholders to develop quality Scopes of Work, perform technical tender evaluation, and conform the scope of work prior to contract award.
  • Manage contracting and procurement approval processes from internal decision makers, Tokyo board and Joint Venture Partners.
  • Provide guidance to Contract Owners in post-award contract management, ensuring effective supplier performance management, and delivery of contractual and commercial obligations.
  • Deliver contracting outcomes that support local content, ethical supply chain practices, modern slavery compliance, and Indigenous engagement objectives in alignment with company policies and commitments.
Successful candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree qualification, Commerce, Law or equivalent professional
  • CIPS or equivalent qualification in Procurement and Supply Chain Management
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end contracting activities three or more contract models (eg. EPCM, rates, EPC, fabrication, etc), including sourcing strategy, tendering, award, and post-award contract management, for complex contracts with annual spend exceeding US$40 million within the energy, resources, defence, or similar industries.
  • Strong experience managing internal and external stakeholder engagement, keeping abreast of operational needs and external market trends.
  • Capable of performing analytics with large data sets to identify spend patterns to link to opportunities in respective category or sourcing strategy development.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting responses in general conditions of contract tender clarifications for legal review.
  • Experience in negotiating different pricing structures.
  • Experience using Contract Lifecycle Management Systems (CLMS) and ERP systems i.e., SAP and SAP Ariba, including managing end-to-end sourcing projects and post-award contract administration and ongoing contract hygiene.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying commercial, legal, and delivery risks and developing risk mitigation strategies as well as managing claims, disputes, and potential exposure.
  • Experience working in a complex Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) and aligning Joint Venture Partners to sourcing strategies and recommended commercial outcomes.
  • Experience with sustainability in the supply chain such as Australian Industry Participation Plans; local content; Indigenous content and Modern Slavery; requirements in the contracting process.
