We are actively pursuing carbon, capture, and storage opportunities to help provide a cleaner upstream business for Ichthys LNG.

Our inclusive culture is key to our success – valuing diversity and bringing us together as a connected and innovative team. As an international company, INPEX offers unique opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from across the globe. We are keen to attract and develop passionate, motivated, and safety-minded people from all backgrounds who want to help support society’s growing need for secure, affordable, and clean energy.

We are seeking expressions of interest for an exciting 2‑year fixed‑term employee opportunity as Shutdown Team Lead, supporting shutdown, campaign, and project delivery at the Ichthys Onshore LNG facilities. Based in Perth, this role offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role in major maintenance activities, with periodic travel to the onshore facilities.

This role is well suited to professionals who enjoy leading cross‑functional teams, shaping maintenance execution outcomes, and influencing planning and readiness in complex operational environments.

About the Role:

The Shutdown Team Lead plays a critical role in ensuring shutdowns, campaigns, and maintenance implementation activities are prioritised, planned, and executed safely and efficiently.

Leveraging strong facility knowledge, you will work closely with Perth‑based planners and coordinators to support maintenance scheduling and operational readiness. You will also provide on‑site leadership during key phases of shutdown preparation, execution, and close‑out.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead safe, efficient shutdown, maintenance and campaign planning and execution.
  • Provide visible HSE leadership and support risk assessments.
  • Coordinate teams, stakeholders, contractors and work packs.
  • Drive IAP processes, schedule optimisation and vendor readiness.
  • Support risk management, MOC and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute operational insight to planning, constructability and strategy.
  • Act as focal point for assigned contractors and promote continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key interface between Perth office and site teams to maintain alignment.
  • Apply site experience to guide planning quality and execution readiness.
What we’re looking for:

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences. You will be a strong fit for this role if you bring:

  • A relevant technical, engineering or maintenance background (degree or diploma desirable).
  • Experience supporting maintenance, shutdown or project delivery in operational environments.
  • Ability to work with operational systems, planning tools and commercial inputs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Confidence leading teams and coordinating work across multiple functions.

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to relocate to Perth.

Closing date for applications is 6 April 2026. INPEX reserves the right to close applications early should a suitable pool of candidates be identified. Please note that direct feedback on applications will only be provided to interviewed candidates.

What We Offer:
Leave & Flexibility:
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Options to purchase additional leave.
  • Dedication to flexible work arrangements, encompassing variable hours and remove work options.
  • INPEX Foundation Day, discretionary leave, and community volunteering leave.
  • Competitive remuneration package with performance‑based incentives.
  • Superannuation above the standard guarantee.
  • Salary packaging options, including novated leasing.
  • Reward and recognition programs, including access to discounts from over 350 retailers.
  • Clear pathways for career development and internal progression.
  • Structured leadership development programs with ongoing support.
  • Dedicated study leave and access to learning and development opportunities.
  • Access to wellbeing initiatives, including gym membership options and health resources.
  • A supportive workplace focused on safety, balance and sustainable work practices.

Additional benefits such as Japanese language classes are available at select locations, including Perth.

We value diversity in our workplace – including beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles, so we can bring our true selves to work every day. If you believe that you have most but not all the requirements outlined above, we encourage you to still apply.
