Job summary

Cleanaway, Australia’s leading waste management company, is seeking a motivated MRF Leading Hand to join the operations team. Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, you will oversee daily processing, provide direction to staff and ensure safe, compliant operations in a fast-paced recycling environment.

You will lead front-line workers, monitor productivity, conduct pre-start inspections, train team members, and support maintenance while upholding high safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Must be available for the afternoon shift 1:30pm - 11pm.
• Experience in waste, recycling, manufacturing or processing operations.
• Previous experience operating front-end loaders and forklifts.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to identify issues and find practical solutions.
• Competent computer skills and the ability to confidently use company systems and software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate MRF operators and processing staff to support efficient daily operations
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and HSE requirements
• Monitor processing activities to maximise productivity and material recovery
• Conduct and assist with pre-start inspections, ensuring plant and equipment are operated safely
• Train, mentor and support team members to build capability and performance
• Identify operational issues and work with management to implement practical solutions
• Maintain high housekeeping and site presentation standards
• Complete daily operational records, inspections and reporting
• Support maintenance activities and help minimise plant downtime
