Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver to deliver for customers across local communities. You’ll be the face of our trusted logistics network, loading goods, driving between centres and delivering with care.

You’ll be on the road, with a supportive team, required to meet safety standards and pass pre-employment checks. This role offers a strong community impact and opportunities to grow within the Australian postal network.

Qualifications

• Hold a heavy vehicle licence and be prepared to load and unload freight when required.

About the opportunity

As our Heavy Vehicle Truck Driver, you'll be the face of our trusted business, at the heart of your community and connecting businesses with their customers, and communities with each other day-in, day-out. You might not be working from home, but you'll be on the road as a staple of your community, and it doesn’t get better than that!

You’ll be

• Safely loading your truck with freight for your deliveries with teammates at the facility.
• Completing your own daily vehicle safety check.
• Driving our modern trucks between our operational centres and customers, for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Returning to our operational centres to unload pick-ups.

About you

• You’re a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality who loves autonomy just as much as interacting with others and being a team player.
• You’re passionate about making a difference in the community.

You’ll also need to

• Hold a relevant heavy vehicle licence.
• Be fit enough to load and unload freight items of all different shapes, sizes and weights, frequently in and out of a truck.
• Be safety-focused and understand the importance of chain of responsibility.
• Have a customer-centric mindset and effective communication skills.
• You will need to meet our safe working load limit of weighing 130kgs or less.
• Be prepared to provide a driving history report, undergo a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening and national police checks.
