Job summary

Platinum Blasting Services is seeking experienced MPU Operators to join our crew in Queensland. You will operate mobile mixing units to load, transport and pump explosives, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and ensuring safety-first operations on site.

This permanent role features a 7:7 roster (12.5-hour shifts), camp accommodation, flights from Brisbane, ongoing training and clear career pathways. Only candidates with RIIBLA203E and RIIBLA201E and right to work in Australia will be considered.

Qualifications

• Experience operating MPU/MMU in open-cut mining.
• Ability to operate autonomously with a strong safety focus.
• Demonstrated competency with explosives handling and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Operate MPU trucks to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes.
• Carry out pre-start checks and support equipment maintenance.
• Record keeping and reporting issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Follow safety, environmental and compliance requirements.

The Role

As an experienced MPU Operator, you’ll be hands on with our mobile mixing units by safely loading, transporting and pumping to deliver precise blasting outcomes. You’ll report to the Shift Supervisor and work closely with the rest of the crew to keep operations on track using advanced equipment in a safety-first environment.

What You’ll Do

• Operating MPU trucks safely to manufacture and deliver bulk explosives to blast holes
• Track and maintain accurate records and proactively report any issues to the Shift Supervisor
• Carry out pre-start checks and support preventative maintenance on equipmentFollowing all safety, environmental, and compliance requirements
• Support the wider team to achieve daily targets

What You’ll Need

Must-haves:

• Right to work in Australia without restriction
• Previous experience operating MPU/MMU or similar equipment in an open cut mining environment and experienced enough to operate autonomously
• Statement of Attainment for MPU Operating i.e. RIIBLA203E – Conduct Mobile Mixing of Explosives and RIIBLA201E – Support Shotfiring Operations
• Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
• QLD Explosives Security Clearance Card (or ability to obtain)
• Able to pass pre-employment checks including medical, drug and alcohol and background checks

Nice to Have:

• Relevant RII i.e.RIIVEH307F -Heavy Rigid Vehicle, RIIMPO208F – Operate Support Equipment and RIIBLA205E – Store Handle & Transport Explosives
• Have operated on a BMA site
