Job summary

A Basit Goraya Pty Ltd in Geelong, VIC is seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to diagnose, service, maintain and repair passenger and light vehicles in a busy workshop. The role requires a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology and at least 1 year of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

Job Description

A BASIT GORAYA PTY LTD We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our automotive workshop in Geelong, 90-96 Fyans St, South Geelong VIC 3220. The successful applicant will diagnose, service, maintain and repair passenger and light motor vehicles, ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications, workshop quality standards and vehicle safety requirements.

Benefits Full-time employment 38 hours a week. Annual guaranteed salary of $80,000, plus superannuation. Work across a range of vehicles.

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and associated electrical faults in engines, transmissions and other vehicle systems using computerised diagnostic equipment and testing devices.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, braking, steering, suspension and other mechanical systems to identify worn, damaged or defective components. Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions and other mechanical components for inspection and repair. Repair or replace defective components, reassemble mechanical systems, and test and adjust them to ensure correct operation.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks and filter replacements. Diagnose and repair faults in fuel, ignition, cooling and exhaust systems. Carry out repairs and adjustments to brakes, clutches, steering and suspension systems.
• Perform engine tune-ups and adjustments to improve vehicle performance and reliability. Conduct road tests and final inspections to verify repairs and vehicle safety. Maintain accurate records of diagnoses, repairs, servicing and parts used.
• Use workshop tools, machinery and diagnostic equipment safely. Maintain a clean and organised workshop and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent relevant automotive mechanical trade qualification.
• At least one year of relevant practical experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using computerised vehicle diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Ability to complete servicing and repairs independently and work effectively within a workshop team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
