Burwood Tyre & Auto in Burwood seeks a full-time, trade-qualified Motor Mechanic to service and repair motor vehicles in their workshop. The role requires a minimum three years post-qualification experience and strong diagnostic skills, with English communication ability.

Qualifications

• Trade Certificate in Automotive Technology or higher qualification is mandatory.
• At least 3 years post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Proven experience in a busy Australian workshop environment.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good level of English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Discuss problems with drivers or vehicle operators to identify faults.
• Test and adjust mechanical parts after repairs for proper performance.
• Tune engines using electronic equipment for smoother running.
• Repair and replace worn/defective parts and refer to service manuals.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services to ensure smoother running and pollution compliance.
• Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and EFI.
• Reassemble engines and parts after repairs.
• Detect mechanical and electrical faults in engines and components.
• Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls.
• Work in a COVID-safe environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have

Minimum Requirements (Essential)

1. Trade Certificate in Automotive Technology and Diploma in Automotive Technology (or higher qualification) – mandatory
2. At least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience as a Motor Mechanic
3. Proven experience working in a busy automotive workshop environment in Australia
4. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
5. Good level of English communication skills

Duties involved are:

1. Discuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to discover faults
2. Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
3. Tune engines using electronic equipment and make adjustments for smoother running
4. Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts, reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
5. performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
6. Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection
7. Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
8. Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts
9. Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls
10. Ability to work in a COVID-safe environment.
