Job summary

Joii undertakes trade work across Queensland and offers secure, well-paid positions where your work makes a community impact. You will join our Queensland Trades Team as a qualified Motor Mechanic, bringing expertise in ICE and electric power units and working to maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles.

Applicants should hold AQF Certificate III (or IV) and possess relevant tickets; having EV diagnostics experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
• Be able to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Hold all industry required tickets and tools.
• Supply & maintain own commercial grade tools; a tool maintenance allowance is included in the salary package.

Responsibilities

• Repairing, maintaining, and testing motor vehicles and related mechanical components.
• Diagnose faults in engines and parts; perform diagnostics for electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services to ensure vehicle performance and compliance with regulations.

Essential Skills Needed

• Qualification as a Motor Mechanic
• Qualification as Electric Vehicle Motor Mechanic an advantage
• Expertise knowledge of current motor vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Be able to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Hold all industry required tickets and tools.
• Supply & maintain own commercial grade tools, noting a tool maintenance allowance is included in the salary package).
• Provide own vehicle to get themselves and their tools to site.
• Maintain current driver’s license.

Additional Information

The role includes repairing, maintaining, and testing motor vehicles and other ICE and Electric power units and related mechanical components.

Tasks Include:

• detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts.
• Electric and hybrid vehicle diagnostics and repair
• high-voltage battery maintenance and reconditioning
• automotive electrical and electronic troubleshooting
• Diagnosed and repair air conditioning systems across a wide range of vehicle brands.
• dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and checking parts.
• repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components and referring to service manuals as needed.
• performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.
• reassembling engines and parts after being repaired.
• testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance.
• diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers.
• may inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
