Job summary

Joii is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic in Queensland to maintain and repair a large fleet of heavy vehicles. You will work in our Queensland Trades Team, following industry standards and safety practices. An AQF Certificate III (or IV) is required, with on‑the‑job training and opportunity for development.

Bring your own tools and a valid driver’s licence to site. You will read technical manuals, diagnose faults with Computers, perform maintenance, and repair components as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic is essential.
• Experience with heavy vehicle maintenance and diesel engines.
• Hold all industry required tickets and tools.
• Provide own commercial grade tools and vehicle for site travel.
• Driver’s licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Detect faults in engines and parts.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies and related components.
• Diagnose and test faults with computers and manuals.
• Repair and replace worn parts and reassemble components.
• Order parts and maintain inventories.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Rebuild engines and components after repairs.
• Weld and paint vehicles and components as needed.
• Inspect vehicles and assist with roadworthiness if required.

The Opportunity

As a Diesel Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a large fleet covering a range of heavy vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.

Essential Skills Needed

• Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic
• Expertise knowledge of current heavy vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Be able to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Hold all industry required tickets and tools.
• Supply & maintain own commercial grade tools, noting a tool maintenance allowance is included in the salary package)
• Provide own vehicle to get themselves and their tools to site. Maintain current driver’s license.

Additional Information

• Must have AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) as a Diesel Mechanic.
• The role includes repairing, maintaining and testing heavy vehicles and other diesel engines and related mechanical components of buses, trucks and heavy vehicles.

Tasks Include:

• detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
• dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
• diagnosing and testing with the assistance of computers
• repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
• order parts and maintain Inventories.
• performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with regulations.

• may inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
