Job summary

Birch Hotel Group is seeking experienced Motel Management Couples to run one Queensland motel, delivering friendly guest service while improving presentation, performance and reputation. This hands-on role requires flexibility to handle late arrivals and operational issues beyond standard hours.

You'll work in a growing hospitality group with on-site accommodation, national operations support, and ongoing relief or permanent placements across multiple motels.

Qualifications

• Experience in motel, accommodation or hospitality management.
• Ability to use RMS or similar booking systems.
• Sound financial and administrative skills.
• Willingness to perform maintenance and problem solving.
• Self-motivated, organised and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of one motel.
• Ensure guests receive friendly service and improve property presentation.
• Manage front office tasks: check-in/check-out, reservations, OTA platforms, payments, reconciliations.
• Assist with housekeeping and property upkeep as needed.
• Coordinate trades and manage stock/inventory.
• Handle guest feedback and reviews professionally.

We are a privately owned hospitality group operating a growing portfolio of regional Queensland motels. As we continue expanding through acquisitions, we're looking for experienced, hands-on Motel Management Couples who enjoy taking on a challenge and making a real difference.

Let's be upfront—we don't operate luxury 4 or 5-star resorts. Some of our motels require improvement, stronger operational systems, and managers who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves.

This opportunity may suit experienced motel managers, hospitality professionals, or relief management couples seeking ongoing placements or long-term opportunities.

The Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of one of our Queensland motels, ensuring guests receive friendly service while continuously improving the presentation, performance and reputation of the property.

This is a genuine hands-on management role where no two days are the same.

Front Office & Administration

• Welcoming guests and managing check-in/check-out
• Managing reservations and online travel agent (OTA) platforms
• Using RMS or similar booking systems
• Processing payments and daily reconciliations
• Basic bookkeeping and financial reporting
• Monitoring occupancy and business performance
• Responding professionally to guest feedback and online reviews
• Managing administration and compliance requirements

Operations & Property Presentation

• Assisting with housekeeping when required
• Maintaining high room presentation standards
• General grounds, gardens and pool upkeep
• Performing minor maintenance and repairs
• Coordinating trades where necessary
• Stock ordering and inventory management
• Identifying opportunities to improve the guest experience and property standards

As managers, there may also be occasions where you assist with late arrivals, guest issues, or unexpected operational matters outside normal business hours.

About You

We're looking for couples who:

• Have previous motel, accommodation or hospitality management experience
• Are confident using RMS or similar booking systems
• Have sound financial and administrative skills
• Enjoy practical maintenance and problem-solving
• Take pride in presenting a clean, welcoming property
• Deliver exceptional customer service
• Are self-motivated, organised and reliable
• Enjoy improving businesses rather than simply maintaining them
• Can work independently and make decisions with confidence
• Are adaptable, resilient and willing to embrace regional living
• Want to be part of a growing hospitality group where your efforts genuinely make a difference

Police clearances and drug screening may be required.

Applicants must hold their own ABN or ACN.
