Job description

An established mortgage broking firm in Northcote is looking for an experienced, accredited Mortgage Broker to join our team. You'll bring at least two years of broking experience and the confidence to manage your own client relationships from first contact to settlement. We supply a steady flow of leads, and you'll add to that pipeline through your own referrals.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of provided leads, converting enquiries into long-term client relationships.
  • Build your own pipeline through outbound calls, referral partners and your existing network.
  • Conduct discovery and fact-find meetings by phone, by video and in person, identifying each client's objectives and financial position.
  • Structure lending scenarios, including owner-occupied, investment, refinance, construction and self-employed.
  • Recommend lending solutions that meet the Best Interests Duty and responsible lending obligations.
  • Prepare and manage applications across the lender panel through to settlement.
  • Keep client files, file notes and CRM records complete, accurate and audit-ready.
  • Maintain relationships with clients after settlement through regular reviews and refinance opportunities.
  • Meet agreed settlement targets and performance KPIs.
About you
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a practising mortgage broker
  • A Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking (FNS40821), with the Diploma (FNS50322) held or in progress
  • Current MFAA or FBAA membership
  • A strong working knowledge of the NCCP Act, responsible lending and the Best Interests Duty
  • A demonstrated record of settlement volumes and client retention
  • Confidence in business development, including outbound calling and building referral networks
  • High standards of file preparation, compliance and record-keeping
  • Experience with Connective/Mercury Nexus, ApplyOnline and Microsoft Office (highly regarded)
  • An existing client database or referral network (a strong advantage)
  • Ability to pass a national police check, credit check and bankruptcy search
  • A consistent supply of quality leads, so you can spend less time prospecting and more time writing
  • Competitive base salary plus commission, negotiable based on experience and track record
  • Access to a broad lender panel and established broking systems
  • A long-term role with scope to grow your earnings as your book grows
