Randstad NV is seeking a Traffic Controller / Truck Driver (MR/HR) to join our civil construction crew on the Mornington Peninsula. This casual-to-permanent role focuses on traffic management and road maintenance, with a clear path to full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Current Traffic Control Tickets and TMP/Traffic Management Plan competencies.
• MR or HR Truck License with clean driving record.
• White Card (General Construction Induction).
• Proven experience in traffic control or civil road work.
• Reliable and available for 6:00 AM starts and emergency rosters.

Responsibilities

• Traffic Management: set up, maintain, and pack down traffic control sites per TGS/TMP and safety guidelines.
• Direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic around active work zones.
• Operate MR/HR trucks to transport traffic management equipment and supplies.
• Assist with routine road maintenance and sign installation.
• Conduct roadside hazard clearance and site cleanup as needed.
• Participate in a rostered emergency call-out team for urgent road hazards.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Traffic Controller / Truck Driver (MR / HR) to join our civil construction team operating across the Mornington Peninsula. This is an excellent casual-to-permanent opportunity with a secure pathway to full-time permanent employment.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role where safety and communication are top priorities. Alongside managing traffic flow for civil works and road maintenance, our crew ensures local roads remain safe, accessible, and functional for the community. You will also participate in an emergency call-out roster for urgent hazard and storm response.

Key Responsibilities

• Traffic Management: Set up, maintain, and pack down temporary traffic control sites in accordance with approved Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS/TMP) and safety guidelines.

• Traffic Control: Operate stop/slow bats, portable traffic lights, and direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic safely around active work zones.

• Driving & Transport: Safely operate MR / HR trucks to transport traffic management equipment, site materials, equipment, and spoil.

• Road & Asset Maintenance: Assist the crew with routine asphalt patch work, pothole repairs, street sign installation, and road furniture maintenance.

• General Crew Duties: Conduct roadside hazard clearing, general laboring, hand-tool operation, and site clean-up.

• Emergency Response: Participate in a rostered emergency call-out team to handle urgent road hazards, fallen trees, and storm damage.

What You Need to Bring

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and requirements:

• Traffic Control Tickets: Current Traffic Control (RIIWHS205E) and Implement Traffic Management Plan (RIICWD503E / RIIWHS302E) competencies.

• Truck License: Current MR or HR Truck License with a clean driving record.

• White Card: General Construction Induction Training.

• Experience: Proven experience in traffic control, civil road construction, or council road maintenance.

• Reliability & Availability: Ability to commit to a 6:00 AM daily start and participate in an emergency call-out roster.

• Transport: Valid driver's license and reliable transport to reach various depot and site locations across the Mornington Peninsula.

Desirable (Highly Regarded)

• Current tickets/competencies for Skid Steer (Bobcat), Excavator, or Roller.

• Experience setting up multi-vehicle traffic setups or night shift operations.
