Alstom in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on maintenance specialist for the Next Generation Tram (NGT) fleet. Based at Maidstone, you will perform preventative and corrective maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems to keep trams safe and reliable.
You will diagnose faults, support vehicle modifications, record issues, and help optimise maintenance regimes while following OH&S and quality procedures in a collaborative team environment.
At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
More Than a Job: A Mission!
Take your maintenance expertise into the next generation of Melbourne's tram network. Working alongside a skilled and energetic team, you'll play a key role in delivering maintenance activities for the Next Generation Tram (NGT) fleet. Based primarily at our Maidstone facility, with work across the network as required, you'll help keep a modern tram fleet safe, reliable and ready for service.
Your Role, Your Impact!
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs across electrical and mechanical systems
Assist with vehicle modifications, retrofits and continuous improvement programs designed to enhance reliability and maintainability
Provide technical support, participate in vehicle recovery activities and help resolve operational faults
Accurately record faults and repairs, support data collection and analyse recurring trends affecting vehicle performance and reliability
Help review and optimise maintenance regimes to improve efficiency, reduce risk and control costs without compromising safety
Follow OH&S, quality and operational procedures while contributing to a positive, collaborative workplace.
About you:
Knowledge of rolling stock equipment, maintenance practices and maintenance operations
Understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others when required
A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
Flexibility to work across roster requirements, this includes weekends, afternoon and night shifts.
A Grade Electrical Licence is essential.
Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
