Job summary

CEA is recruiting a Mobile Plant Mechanic Apprentice for the 2027 intake in Sydney, Australia. You’ll gain hands-on experience servicing and repairing mobile plant and heavy machinery while completing your trade qualification.

We’re seeking mechanically minded individuals who enjoy working with your hands and are committed to safety and team collaboration. Prior mechanical experience is beneficial but not essential, and a current driver’s licence or progress toward one is preferred.

Qualifications

• Interest in mechanics and heavy machinery.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to balance practical work with apprenticeship study.
• Current driver’s licence or be working towards obtaining one.
• Previous mechanical experience or automotive studies are an advantage, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair mobile plant and equipment
• Assist with diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Carry out inspections and preventative maintenance
• Use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment
• Read and understand technical information
• Follow safe work practices and procedures
• Work alongside experienced technicians and learn on the job
• Complete the training and study requirements of your apprenticeship

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be an expert. We’re looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine interest in the trade.

Ideally, you will have:

• A genuine interest in mechanics, heavy machinery or automotive


• A willingness to learn and develop new skills


• A reliable and positive attitude


• Good communication and teamwork skills


• A strong commitment to workplace safety


• The ability to balance practical work with apprenticeship study


• A current driver’s licence, or be working towards obtaining one

Previous mechanical experience, work experience or automotive studies are an advantage, but not essential.
