Job summary

RACV is seeking an experienced Mobile App Technical Lead to guide the architecture and delivery of our native iOS and Android apps. You will mentor engineers, establish standards, and drive CI/CD and security, while collaborating with product, UX/UI, architects and partners.

This role blends hands-on coding with leadership in a flexible, hybrid setup, offering opportunities to influence RACV's mobile strategy and architectural direction.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in technical direction and mentoring developers
• Extensive experience building native mobile apps on iOS and Android
• Hands-on with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit
• Proven track record delivering large-scale mobile apps
• Knowledge of modern mobile architecture and DI patterns
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL and microservices
• Security and authentication knowledge (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, MFA)
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Firebase, monitoring and analytics
• Strong communication and stakeholder management
• Tertiary qualification or equivalent; Azure/mobile certs valued

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment and support of native iOS and Android apps
• Provide hands-on leadership across Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit
• Define and champion mobile architecture patterns, standards, coding practices and security controls
• Prepare technical designs and conduct code reviews for scalable, maintainable solutions
• Drive CI/CD, Azure DevOps, release automation and mobile deployment practices
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, Architects and developers to translate requirements into mobile solutions
• Mentor engineers and coordinate internal and multi-vendor teams to lift engineering capability
• Troubleshoot complex applications, integration, authentication and performance issues using observability tools
• Evaluate emerging mobile technologies to continuously improve RACV’s mobile capability

About the opportunity

RACV is looking for an experienced Mobile App Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across our native iOS and Android application platforms.

As the Mobile App Technical Lead, you’ll combine hands‑on mobile engineering expertise with technical leadership, helping shape the architecture, development, deployment and ongoing evolution of RACV’s mobile applications. You’ll work across internal teams and technology partners, setting engineering standards, guiding developers and ensuring our mobile solutions are secure, scalable, high‑performing and aligned with RACV’s broader technology strategy.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening RACV’s mobile engineering capability while driving modern development practices, automation and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include

• Lead the technical design, development, deployment and support of native iOS and Android applications.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership across Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit.
• Define and champion mobile architecture patterns, engineering standards, coding practices and security controls.
• Prepare technical designs and conduct code reviews to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable and aligned with enterprise architecture
• Drive CI/CD, Azure DevOps, release automation and mobile deployment practices.
• Work closely with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, Architects, developers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust mobile solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across internal and multi‑vendor development teams, mentoring engineers and lifting overall engineering capability.
• Troubleshoot complex application, integration, authentication and performance issues using monitoring, analytics and observability tools.
• Evaluate emerging mobile technologies and engineering practices to continuously improve RACV’s mobile capability.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

• Previous experience working in a technical leadership role, providing technical direction, mentoring developers and driving engineering best practices
• Extensive experience developing native mobile applications across iOS and Android
• Hands‑on experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Android Studio and Xcode.
• Proven experience architecting and delivering large‑scale, production‑ready mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of modern mobile architecture including MVVM, Clean Architecture, modular architecture and dependency injection.
• Experience with integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices and backend systems
• Strong understanding of mobile security and authentication, including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, MFA
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Firebase, automated testing, application monitoring and crash analytics.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical and code reviews, mentoring engineers.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience. Azure and mobile platform certifications are highly regarded.
