Glencore's United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) invites applications for a Mine Supervisor role at the open-cut operation near Singleton, NSW. Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will provide strong leadership and strategic direction to a team executing the mine plan safely and efficiently, with a hands-on approach to continuous improvement.
The role requires an Open Cut Examiners (OCE) Certificate of competency, plus experience supervising frontline personnel, a solid grasp of HSEC
United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an open-cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody).
We commenced operation in 2020 and we are forecast to produce up to 10 million tonnes per annum of run of mine (ROM) thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal until 2042. In 2022, UWJV was awarded NSW Mining 'Operation of the Year'
The role Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, as an integral member of the mining team the primary purpose of this role is to provide strong leadership and strategic direction of a team responsible for executing the mine plan to a high standard. This role will require you to lead by example providing visible and credible direction to achieve a safe and productive approach to work. This role requires an individual prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a fully involved and hands on approach delivering value for all stakeholders, including yourself and others. You will be a member of an industry leading operation built on a culture of Safety, Ownership, Belonging and Achievement.
An Open Cut Examiners (OCE) Certificate of competency is essential. You will have experience in the direct supervision and management of personnel in a frontline role. Understand HSEC standards and statutory requirements of an OCE. Able to work collaboratively to achieve operational targets and positive business outcomes. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships. Excellent time management and leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to hold your team accountable to deliver excellence in all operational metrics. Passionate about team growth and development. Proactive attitude towards safety.
