Job summary

Glencore’s Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) seeks a Mining Superintendent – Drill and Blast to lead drilling and blasting activities, drive safety, productivity and team performance at the Hunter Valley site in NSW. Monday–Friday, dayshift, reporting to the Mining Manager.

You will oversee supervisors, employees and contractors, ensure adherence to policies, and deliver results while maintaining high safety standards and operational discipline.

Qualifications

  • Experience in operational leadership roles within mining to liaise with diverse employees and senior leaders.
  • Proven experience managing drilling, blasting and contractor activities.
  • Desirable NSW Explosive Security Clearance.
  • Desirable Mining Engineering Manager Practicing Certificate.
  • Computer literacy to measure, record and analyse safety, people and productivity metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead drilling and blasting operations and manage the drill and blast team.
  • Liaise with Supervisors, Employees and Contractors to meet production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Glencore Management Framework and safety policies.

Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

An opportunity exists for an experienced and committed Mining Superintendent – Drill and Blast at MGO. Reporting to the Mining Manager this position is Monday to Friday, dayshift only and is accountable for leading MGO’s high performing work teams (including Supervisors, Employees and Contractors). Your ability to drive for results, effectively communicate and lead a team is paramount. This position requires multitasking and the following of all policies and procedures implemented and maintained in accordance with the Glencore Management Framework.   • Previous experience in operational leadership roles that will enable you to confidently liaise and influence a diverse range employees and senior leaders within the business.
  • Proven experience managing key operational activities including drilling, blasting and contractor management.
  • Mining Superintendent or Supervisor experience specifically in: Drill & Blast and/or Production Current NSW Explosive Security Clearance (desirable).
  • Current Mining Engineering Manager Practicing Certificate (desirable).
  • Computer literacy is key to enable you to have the ability to measure, record and analyse reporting on safety, people and productivity activities to consistently exceed plan and improve performance.
