Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. at GEMCO on Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory, is seeking a Mining Supervisor on a permanent 7:7 roster.

FIFO options from Darwin or Cairns to lead frontline mining crews and deliver safe, efficient daily and weekly production. You'll supervise ancillary services and truck & shovel operations, drive safety and performance, and manage leave, performance and disciplinary actions.

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, rotating day / night shift, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As a Mining Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision to frontline mining crews, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of daily and weekly production plans. Opportunities may exist across both Ancillary Services and Truck & Shovel Operations, with responsibilities including coordinating mining activities, managing operational risks, and driving safety, production and team performance outcomes. .

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Execute work safely according to 24-hour and weekly plans.
• Provide leadership through workplace interactions and ensure adherence to procedures.
• Manage people processes, including leave, performance, and disciplinary actions.
• Collaborate with maintenance and support services to drive safety and operational efficiency

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Prior experience in a leadership role within mining, as well as operator experience
• Proven ability developing and mentoring employees for enhanced engagement and diversity
• Positive role model and supportive leader, effectively supervising large teams
• Understanding of safety, health, and risk management frameworks, with an improvement mindset

Qualifications for this position are:

• Mining Supervisor competency G1, G8, G9 (or willing to obtain)
• G2 Risk Management (or willing to obtain)
• High-Risk License: Vehicle Loading Crane (desirable)
