Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking experienced Mechanical Supervisors to lead the Mechanical Workshop team at McArthur River Mine. This permanent role operates on a 2 on / 2 off rotating day and night roster, offering leadership, safe and efficient maintenance outcomes, and opportunities to drive projects and improve performance.

You’ll manage major mechanical works, develop workforce capability via training matrices, uphold health and safety standards, and collaborate with contractors

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification is required.
• 3–5 years in a supervisory role within mining or heavy earthmoving industries.
• Strong knowledge of Caterpillar systems, parts and service processes.
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
• Excellent communication and time-management across priorities.
• Focus on quality, reliability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop your team – provide active management, leadership, coaching, and guidance to workshop employees and contractors while ensuring company policies and procedures are upheld.
• Drive safety and compliance – maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring governance and compliance across all mechanical activities and installations.
• Deliver operational excellence – ensure KPIs, targets, timeframes, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Manage major projects – maintain single point accountability for all major mechanical works, ensuring continuity, progress, and clear communication.
• Improve performance and quality – work closely with the team to enhance efficiency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement outcomes.
• Develop workforce capability – create and manage a Mechanical Skills Training Matrix to build team capability and performance.
