Job summary

South32 is seeking a Laboratory Technician at our Cannington operation in northwest Queensland. This permanent full-time role on a 7/7 day/night FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane (DIDO from Mount Isa) will perform sample preparation, analysis and reporting across production, metallurgy, geology and marketing streams to agreed standards and turnaround times.

You will review QAQC, maintain laboratory equipment, manage reagents and consumables, and support safe operating procedures while delivering

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required, but any relevant trade certification or educational qualification is highly regarded.
• A disciplined, methodical approach with attention to detail in routine tasks.
• Collaborative team member who communicates effectively and manages workload to deliver on time.
• Experience in a commercial, mining or production laboratory is desirable, base metals context is valued.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out sample preparation, analysis and reporting across production, metallurgy, geology and marketing streams to agreed standards and turnaround times.
• Review and maintenance of Safe Work Instructions and operating Procedures.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and overheads such as reagents and consumables.
• Review QAQC and initiate remedial action for out-of-specification results.
