Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. is hiring a Laboratory Technician for a permanent full-time role on a 7/7 day/night FIFO/DIDO roster. The position covers sample preparation, analysis, and reporting across production, metallurgy, geology, and marketing streams to meet turnaround times.

The role requires disciplined, detail-oriented work, teamwork, and the ability to maintain safety and QA/QC standards. FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane or DIDO from Mount Isa region is available.

Qualifications

• Discipline and methodical approach to ensure accuracy and consistency across routine tasks.
• Collaborative team member who communicates effectively and manages workload to deliver tasks on time.
• Prior experience in a commercial, mining or production laboratory is desirable; base metals context is valued.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment such as WD-XRF, ICP-OES, ISE is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out sample preparation, analysis and reporting across production, metallurgy, geology and marketing streams.
• Review and maintain Safe Work Instructions and operating Procedures.
• Maintain the Laboratory and its equipment in a safe and reliable state.
• Manage laboratory overheads including reagents and consumables; initiate remedial action for out-of-spec results.
