Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician for the Goonyella Riverside Mine in the Bowen Basin, Queensland. Reporting to the Lead Engineer Processing, the role operates on a 7/7 day/night roster and delivers sampling, data entry and analytical results to the IROC and operations teams.

The ideal candidate will have proven laboratory experience in open cut coal mining, a strong safety focus and good interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience as a Laboratory Technician is essential.
Previous experience working in a laboratory in an open cut coal mining environment is highly desirable.
An unwavering commitment to safety will be demonstrated throughout prior experience.
Values driven, a positive attitude, energetic and well-developed interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Conduct sampling and analysis in line with established processes and procedures.
Entry and reporting of data to relevant parties, and where necessary recommend corrective actions to the process.
Perform equipment and instrument calibrations.
Review of established procedures and practices and suggest improvements.
Enable efficient plant operations through the delivery of analytical results to the IROC and operations teams.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, the community and the environment.
Resolution of quality issues within shift.
