Job summary

Peabody Energy, Inc. seeks a Mining Engineer for our Wilpinjong Mine near Mudgee, NSW. The role focuses on short-term Load & Haul scheduling and design for an open-cut operation, ensuring safe daily and weekly mine plans aligned with longer-term strategies.

Ideal candidates hold a Mining Engineering degree, have strong communication skills, and experience with mine planning software (Vulcan preferred). Coal experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with mine planning and design software.
• Open-cut mining experience in coal helpful.

Responsibilities

• Promote site safety, environmental, health and quality of mining activities.
• Develop and maintain short-term Load & Haul schedules (daily to weekly).
• Design and optimize haul roads, dump locations and loading areas using mine planning software.
• Collaborate with operations, drill & blast, and geology teams to align plans.
• Monitor and adjust schedules based on feedback, equipment availability and conditions.
• Conduct pit inspections to validate designs and ensure safety/compliance.
