Job summary

Develop's Woodlawn Copper-Zinc mine in NSW is seeking an Underground Mining Engineer to provide production support for daily underground operations including drill and blast, stope backfill, ventilation, and scheduling.

The role reports to the Senior Mining Engineer and offers an 8:6 roster with FIFO options from East Coast capital cities, DIDO or residential arrangements. You will take a hands-on role in planning and technical execution on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mining or equivalent.
• 2 years of underground hard rock mining experience.
• Underground practical experience completed.
• Experience with Deswik design packages.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and time management skills.
• Short term scheduling experience preferred.
• Experience with drill and blast design and execution.
• St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable.
• C Class Drivers Licence and NSW safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement weekly 7/21 production plan aligned with targets.
• Develop stope extraction and blasting plans with risk controls.
• Contribute to stope reconciliation, dilution and recovery improvements.
• Manage underground ventilation systems and plan upgrades.
• Conduct underground inspections and liaise with contractors.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by Senior Mining Engineer.
• Adhere to site safety systems and procedures.
• Lead and mentor team to DEVELOP's standards and core values.

About the role:

DEVELOPs Woodlawn Copper-Zinc mine is located in the world-class Lachlan Fold belt in NSW, 250km south-west of Sydney.

Woodlawn is an advanced stage mine with the first two years of underground production already developed and a near new processing plant and related infrastructure in place. Additional investment in the asset over the last two years has yielded a new underground exclusive mine plan, backed by reserves for the next ten years.

We now have an exciting opportunity for an Underground Mining Engineer - Production reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, this role will see you provide comprehensive mining technical support to execute daily underground operations, including drill and blast, stope backfill, ventilation, infrastructure, and scheduling.

Offered on an 8:6 roster with options for FIFO from any capital city on the East Coast, DIDO or Residential

Your main responsibilities (however not limited to):

• Develop and implement a weekly rolling 7 / 21 production plan aligned with monthly and quarterly targets, and track operations compliance to plan.
• Develop stope extraction plans, including final stope shapes, drill and blast plans, stope backfill plans and associated risk mitigation measures.
• Contribute to stope reconciliation and optimise designs for improved dilution and recovery.
• Manage the mine ventilation system including regular monitoring and tracking, and planning system upgrades/adjustments as the mining operation progresses.
• Conduct frequent underground inspections and liaise with mining contractors and operations personnel.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as requested by the Senior Mining Engineer.
• Adhere to the site’s safety systems and procedures.
• Lead and mentor other employees to DEVELOP's standards and Core Values

About you:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in underground hard rock mining environment
• Completion of underground practical experience
• Experience with Deswik design packages
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Well-developed communication, time management and organisational skills
• Short term scheduling experience (preferred)
• Experience with drill and blast design and execution
• St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
• C Class Drivers Licence
• Awareness of the NSW Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
