Job summary

Develop is seeking an Underground Safety Trainer to join the Woodlawn Copper Zinc Mine team in Tarago, NSW. You will deliver training, conduct competency assessments, and coach employees and contractors to meet site procedures and safety standards.

Reporting to the Safety and Training Superintendent, you will support the Safety Management System, maintain records, and help foster a proactive safety culture on site, with options for FIFO, DIDO or residential rosters.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Occupational Safety & Health or higher.
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) required.
• Minimum 2 years in safety/training in mining environment.
• Underground operational role/mobility equipment competencies.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a physically demanding role.
• Knowledge of WHS and mine safety legislation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• ICAM investigations experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Core Lithium's (ASX: CXO) Finniss Lithium Operation.

About the role:

DEVELOP currently have an opportunity for an Underground Safety Trainer to join the growing team at our Woodlawn Copper Zinc Mine located in Tarago, NSW.

Reporting to the Safety and Training Superintendent this role will see you maintain safe and competent underground workforce by providing training, competency assessments, coaching, and ongoing support to employees and contractors, ensuring they possess the knowledge and skills required to perform their duties safely and effectively in accordance with site procedures, legislative requirements, and industry best practices.

Offered FIFO on an 8:6 roster, DIDO or Residential 7:7 roster

Your main responsibilities:

• Deliver induction, refresher, and task-specific training programs for the underground workforce.
• Conduct competency assessments for employees and contractors in underground roles and equipment utilized in the underground mining environment.
• Ensure all personnel are trained and assessed to meet company requirements for the role they are employed to fulfil.
• Complete safety and competency assessment documentation to comply with the company's requirements
• Identify training gaps and develop corrective training plans with site management involvement.
• Train personnel in Develop hazard identification and risk assessment processes ensuring workers understand critical controls and safe operating procedures.
• Prepare reports on training compliance and workforce competency.
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS) and associated programs.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements whilst promoting a proactive safety culture at all times.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and assist in incident investigations.
• Maintain safety and training records, registers, and reporting systems accurately and in a timely manner.
• Mentor and assist Health & Safety Rep's in their roles and work with management to continuously improve the safety culture on site
• Assist in Risk Assessments and site specific procedure development and reviews.
• Communicate safety updates, procedural changes, and key information across the workforce as required

About you:

• Certificate IV in Occupational Safety & Health or higher.
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (Min. TAE40116).
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a safety and training role within a surface or underground metalliferous mining operation
• Current competencies in underground operational roles / mobile equipment operation.
• Knowledge of INX systems (InTuition, InControl).
• Current C Class Drivers Licence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in a physically challenging work environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and work practices.
• ICAM Investigations (Lead Initial Response & Investigate WHS Incidents).
• Good understanding of current Workplace/Mine Health and Safety Legislations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
• Certificate lll in Emergency Response and Rescue (highly regarded).
• Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing, HLTPAT055 (highly regarded).
