Job summary

Thiess, Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, seeks a Mining Engineer to join our team. You will report to the Senior Mining Engineer and contribute to mine planning, design and scheduling tasks on a fulltime roster. Your role supports open-cut operations, with DIDO/FIFO options and camp stays during rosters.

We value local knowledge, First Nations engagement and relocation willingness. The role emphasises collaboration with Mining and Maintenance teams to ensure design accuracy and scheduling

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a Mining technical role.
• Experience in open-cut hard rock mining.
• Understanding of reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of mining principles, design concepts and operations (drill and blast, data reconciliation).
• Proficient in Vulcan/Deswik, CAD and MS Office.
• Understanding of how technical outcomes impact financial results.
• Knowledge of Australian legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical mine designs from shift to 3‑month horizons.
• Align designs with approved medium-range plans and adjust as site conditions differ.
• Optimise haul road layouts and dumping strategies for cost-efficient haulage.
• Complete regular pit inspections with Mining Supervisors to confirm design intent.
• Review design non-conformances and operational issues, then update and reissue designs as needed.
• Use planning systems and reporting tools to produce accurate technical outputs.
• Develop daily, weekly and monthly mining schedules that meet Client and Contract requirements.
• Ensure schedules reflect fleet interactions and constraints to support safe, efficient execution.
• Analyse production performance and recommend sequence changes to stay on target.
• Prepare monthly estimates for trucking and material movement.
• Collate and reconcile daily production data, checking for anomalies and validating accuracy.
• Coordinate with broader mine planning support teams to maintain schedule accuracy and alignment.
