Job summary

The Bloomfield Group is seeking a Mining Engineer / Civil Engineer to join the Technical Services team at Rix’s Creek. The role focuses on mine planning, drill and blast activities and production scheduling, delivering safe and cost-efficient mining operations.

You will develop drilling and blast designs, analyse data to optimise performance, and coordinate activities to meet production requirements. Site-based role with travel across Hunter Valley operations; vehicle option included.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mine planning.
  • Experience with mining/civil engineering software such as ShotPlus, Vulcan or Spry.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement drilling, initiation and blast designs in a technically complex environment.
  • Analyse drilling, loading and blast data to optimise performance.
  • Conduct post-blast assessments including fragmentation, dig ability and wall performance.
  • Coordinate and schedule drill and blast activities in line with production requirements.
  • Provide technical advice on blast performance, cost impacts and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and communicate short- and medium-term production plans.
  • Design and schedule mining activities including dig sequences, haul roads and dump plans.
  • Ensure quality control of production statistics in Pulse.
  • Provide production reports on daily, weekly, yearly and as needed basis.
  • Support planning processes including weekly meetings and production reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in production, data capture and reporting.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance and technical teams to deliver safe and efficient outcomes.

About the Role

Working across operations, you will play a key role in optimising blast performance, improving production outcomes, and contributing to safe, efficient and cost-effective mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

About You

Please note this is a site‑based role working Monday to Friday. The role will primarily be based in Singleton, with travel required across our Hunter Valley operations. A vehicle option is included in the package.
