Job description

We are looking for Mining Engineers - Full-time FIFO Permanent roles available!

More than 140 years after mining began at Broken Hill, this legendary orebody still holds considerable untapped potential. Perilya's Southern Operations is a complex, remnant underground mine feeding a purpose-built concentrator on site, with zinc and lead concentrates railed from Broken Hill to Port Pirie in South Australia. The operation is backed by an exploration package of over 300km² of regional tenements, on top of the mining leases covering current operations.

By approaching this orebody with a fresh set of eyes — tapping into a rich seam of historical knowledge and introducing new practices and technology — there is real, latent value still to unlock at Broken Hill. Concentis is now looking for a Lead Mining Engineer to help lead that next chapter.

WHY JOIN US:
  • Lead mine planning at one of Australia's most iconic orebodies — 140+ years of history, with real, untapped value still to unlock
  • Genuine work-life flexibility — choose a Monday to Friday role, 9&5, or an 8&6 roster, with relocation or FIFO options to suit you
  • A competitive, highly negotiable salary package that reflects the seniority of the role
  • Step into a true leadership position — shape strategic direction, mentor a growing team of planning engineers, and influence life-of-mine outcomes
  • Take on a rare technical challenge in remnant underground mining, with strong exposure to Maptek Vulcan and close collaboration with geology and geotechnical teams
  • Backed by 300km²+ of regional exploration tenements — real potential for the operation, and your career, to grow
  • Join a close-knit technical services team where your ideas on productivity, safety, and resource recovery genuinely move the needle
ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Full-time Permanent
  • Location: Broken Hill, NSW - Relocation or FIFO options available
  • Monday to Friday, 8 and 6 roster, or 9 and 5 roster option.
  • Competitive and highly negotiable salary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the development and delivery of short, medium, and long-term mine plans.
  • Coordinate life-of-mine planning activities and mine design optimization initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and monitoring to Mine Planning Engineers and technical team members.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of mine planning standards and processes.
  • Ensure mine designs and planning activities align with: Mine Design Guidelines (MDG); Principal Hazard Management Plans (PHMP); Ground Control Management Plans (GCMP); and relevant NSW regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate planning reviews and contribute to technical decision-making processes
  • Work collaboratively with operations, geology, and geotechnical teams to ensure integrated planning outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to improve mine performance, productivity, and resource recovery
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes
  • Champion safe work practices and proactive risk management across technical services
ABOUT YOU:
  • Relevant experience as an Underground Mining Engineer is essential.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) is required.
  • Previous experience of Maptek Vulcan is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in hard rock underground mining with planning processes and design principles is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in remnant mining is highly regarded.
