Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Mine Control Supervisor for the Olive Downs Complex near Moranbah, to lead the Autonomous Haulage System team and drive safety, efficiency and continuous improvement. The role involves collaboration with maintenance, production and support functions within a 7/7 day/night roster.

You will oversee Mine Control operations, emphasizing safe practices, KPI delivery, and agility in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Proven team leadership in a mining environment.
• Experience adapting to dynamic conditions with Autonomous Haulage Systems.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and work methods.
• Strong time management and communication skills across maintenance and production safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to the AHS Mining team and implement culture-focused strategies for safety and collaboration.
• Communicate effectively across operations and support functions per site plans and SHMS.
• Drive KPI-focused improvements in safety, utilization, productivity and reliability.
• Ensure a current business continuity plan for Mine Control is maintained.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and adherence to Site Safety Management Systems.

The Opportunity

Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex is located approximately 40 kilometres south‑east of Moranbah, with mining operations commencing in mid‑2023. Thiess delivers full-service mining operations under a five‑year contract, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, autonomous load and haul, water management, rehabilitation, and mine infrastructure.

We are currently seeking a Mine Control Supervisor to join our Autonomous Haulage System Team at Olive Downs Complex. Working a 7/7 Dayshift/Nightshift roster and reporting to the Superintendent Mine Control, your duties will include:

• Provide direction to the AHS Mining team and implement strategies that shape the culture and promote a safe, supportive and friendly working environment
• Effectively communicate and foster collaborative relationships across the operation and support functions in accordance with the Site Establishment plan, Project Management plans and the sites SHMS
• Proactive mindset focusing on KPI’s and continuous improvement across people, process and technology with implementation of improvement actions to safety, utilisation, productivity and reliability
• Ensure there is effective and current business continuity plan in place for Mine Control
• Demonstrate your commitment to safety and adhere to Site Safety Management Systems

About you

• Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to coach in a mining environment
• Relevant experience in adapting to a dynamic environment to meet outcomes with Autonomous Haulage Systems such as Minestar Command and/or Komatsu FrontRunner systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment operations work methods
• Excellent time management, communication skills and collaboration experience across maintenance, and production process safety to ensure maximisation of performance
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
