Job summary

Mahtomedi Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a licensed Middle School Science Teacher (LTS) to develop engaging lessons and deliver district curriculum under the Building Principal’s direction. The role includes planning, instruction, assessment, and collaboration with families, counselors, and staff to support student growth.

You will implement technology in instruction, monitor student progress, maintain grades, and participate in IEP/504 meetings and district committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or relevant instructional subject area is required.
• Licensed teachers in the State of MN with appropriate licensure or proof of pending approved licensure is required.
• Prior successful student teaching or teaching experience in urban/multicultural settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop instructional plans, lessons, and activities to present approved district curriculum.
• Assess student needs and abilities to determine instructional methods and techniques.
• Incorporate technology into lesson planning.
• Provide instruction at appropriate difficulty levels and assess progress.
• Enter and maintain accurate grade records and conduct parent conferences.
• Monitor and manage student behavior and supervise paraprofessionals/volunteers.
• Participate in district committees and attend IEP/504 meetings.
• Advise and counsel students and communicate progress to families and staff.
• Stay updated on trends in education and mentor staff and student teachers.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Licensed Teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans and presenting district curriculum in assigned instructional subjects. This role includes delivering and instructing students, evaluating and assessing student progress, and collaborating with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel to address student needs and district learning initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instructional Planning
  • Develop instructional plans, lessons, and activities to present approved district curriculum.
  • Assess student needs and abilities to determine instructional methods and techniques.
  • Incorporate technology into lesson planning.
• Classroom Instruction
  • Provide instruction at appropriate difficulty levels according to district guidelines.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional plans as needed.
  • Utilize various teaching techniques to meet student needs and district learning outcomes.
• Student Evaluation
  • Develop and grade assessments to evaluate student performance.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress.
  • Enter and maintain accurate grade records.
• Classroom Management
  • Monitor and manage student behavior during instructional and non-instructional times.
  • Document and report student behaviors and provide appropriate rewards and consequences.
  • Direct classroom paraprofessionals and volunteers.
• Work with educational professionals and administrators on student needs and curriculum development.
• Participate in district committees and attend IEP and 504 meetings.
• Communication
  • Advise and counsel students both in and out of class.
  • Communicate with students, families, and district personnel regarding student progress.
  • Host meetings such as Open House and parent-teacher conferences.
• Professional Development
  • Stay updated on trends, theories, and technologies in education.
  • Mentor other instructional staff and student teachers.
  • Participate in staff development activities.
• Additional Duties
  • Provide expertise and assistance to staff and the community.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Degree:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Education or relevant instructional subject area.
• License:
  • Licensed teachers in the State of MN with appropriate licensure for assigned areas of responsibility or proof of pending approved licensure.
• Experience:
  • Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban,multicultural education setting.

Salary and Benefits:

• Range: $52,210 - $93,344
• Salary placement is based on experience and education level, as per district guidelines.
