Job summary

REA Group in Melbourne is seeking 2 mid-level Software Engineers to join the Commerce Platforms tribe. You will design and develop scalable B2B and D2C commerce solutions, partnering with product, pricing, and marketing to drive growth.

You will write clean, well-tested code, use AI-assisted coding tools, participate in design discussions, and own features from conception to production. A strong full-stack background and cloud experience are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience in at least one programming language.
• Proficient with full-stack development across front-end, back-end, and data layers.
• Experience building scalable cloud-based applications and services.
• Strong testing mindset with unit and integration tests.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable platform solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Write clean, testable code with comprehensive coverage for reliability and performance.
• Leverage AI coding tools to improve delivery efficiency and quality.
• Participate in design reviews, architecture planning, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in development and production environments.
• Refactor and improve existing codebases to reduce technical debt.
• Share knowledge via pairing, documentation, and tech talks.
• Own work from conception to production and monitor post-deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers on technical solutions.
• Run on-call rotations to support the 'you build it, you run it' ethos.
• Stay current with industry trends and optimize performance and security.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
