Job summary

Hola Mexico Williamstown is seeking a passionate Chef to join our team on a permanent full-time basis in Williamstown, VIC. You will plan and organise food preparation, contribute to menu development and maintain high standards of quality, presentation and kitchen hygiene.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of relevant chef experience, formal cookery qualifications, and a keen interest in Mexican cuisine, with the ability to coordinate kitchen activities in a busy restaurant environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Commercial cookery qualification required; substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present Mexican dishes with consistent flavour and presentation.
• Plan and develop menus and specials with management, considering customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Estimate ingredient quantities, food costs and kitchen labour for efficient service and cost control.
• Order food and kitchen supplies, check deliveries and monitor stock levels, rotation and wastage.
• Monitor food quality from preparation to service.
• Coordinate daily food preparation and kitchen workflow for timely meals.
• Discuss food prep and service requirements with management, kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Demonstrate techniques and guide kitchen team in recipes and presentation.
• Assist with training and supervising cooks and kitchen staff.
• Implement and monitor food safety and hygiene procedures including storage, temperature control, cleaning and allergen management.
