Job summary

Iluka Resources is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to join the Jacinth-Ambrosia Mine on a FIFO roster along the South West coast of South Australia. The role focuses on sampling, laboratory testing, and process optimization within the Wet Concentrator Plant and site lab.

You will work in a collaborative safety-focused environment with on-site camp facilities and travel from Adelaide or Ceduna. A tertiary science/engineering qualification and experience in mineral processing are preferred,

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a Science/Technology/Engineering/Math discipline.
• Experience in a mineral processing plant or laboratory.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process samples from the Wet Concentrator Plant (WCP) in the site laboratory and present results in required reporting formats.
• Ensure laboratory compliance with required standards, maintenance of laboratory equipment and stock levels.
• Monitor WCP performance including heavy mineral concentrate grade and recovery and other key parameters.
• Provide advice to the Operations team for adjustment of WCP settings.
• Review and develop safe work instructions and procedures for routine metallurgical tasks.
• Complete investigatory work into WCP performance and provide recommendations for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Provide technical coaching and guidance for Metallurgical Assistants and WCP operators.

About The Role

We have an opportunity for a passionate Metallurgical Technician to join our team at Jacinth-Ambrosia Mine on South Australia's Far West Coast, approximately 280 kilometres north-west of Ceduna. Join a collaborative team environment where safety, wellbeing and respect are at the heart of how we work. While on site, you'll have access to great camp accommodation and facilities including a gym, swimming pool, sports courts, recreation areas, Wi-Fi and Foxtel. This permanent FIFO opportunity operates on a family-friendly 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster, with travel provided from Adelaide or Ceduna, supporting a balance between a rewarding career and life outside of work.

Key elements of the role include:

• Collect and process samples from the Wet Concentrator Plant (WCP) in the site laboratory, and present results in required reporting formats
• Ensure laboratory compliance with required standards, maintenance of laboratory equipment and commercially astute management of laboratory stock levels
• Monitor performance of the WCP including heavy mineral concentrate grade, heavy mineral recovery, and other key parameters such as water quality and throughput
• Provide advice to the Operations team for adjustment of WCP settings
• Review and develop safe work instructions and procedures for routine metallurgical tasks
• Complete investigatory work into WCP performance, and provide recommendations for process improvement and cost reduction
• Provide technical coaching and guidance for Metallurgical Assistants and WCP operators

About You

• Tertiary qualification in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline
• Experience working in a mineral processing plant, laboratory or related industry
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
