Job summary

Hart Marine in Somerville, at Yaringa Boat Harbour, seeks an experienced Metal Fabricator / Welder to join our boat-building team. You’ll fabricate and weld stainless steel and aluminium components used across our vessels.

You’ll read drawings, measure, cut, bend and fit parts, operate workshop machinery, and carry out fit-up on vessels, ensuring high-quality workmanship and a clean, safe workspace. Experience in marine fabrication is valued; above‑award pay rates and uniforms are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Metal Fabricator or Welder (or Boilermaker).
• Experience working with stainless steel and aluminium.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Manufacture handrails, frames, brackets, supports and other marine components.
• Read and interpret drawings, plans and fabrication specifications.
• Measure, cut, bend, fit and assemble metal parts.

• Collaborate with boat builders, engineers and production team.

Hart Marine is looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator / Welder to join our team!

Based at Yaringa Boat Harbour in Somerville, Hart Marine specialises in the construction of high-performance Pilot, Police and specialised commercial vessels for clients across Australia and around the world.

What you’ll be doing

As part of our boat building team, you’ll be involved in the fabrication and welding of a variety of stainless steel and aluminium components used throughout our vessels.

Your duties may include:

• Fabricating and welding stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Manufacturing handrails, frames, brackets, supports and other custom marine components.
• Reading and interpreting drawings, plans and fabrication specifications.
• Measuring, cutting, bending, fitting and assembling metal components.
• Using workshop machinery, power tools and hand tools.
• Carrying out fabrication and fit-up work directly on vessels.
• Working closely with our boat builders, engineers and production team.
• Ensuring finished work meets Hart Marine’s high standards of quality and presentation.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Metal Fabricator, Welder or Boilermaker.

• Experience working with stainless steel and aluminium.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship.
• Good measuring, fabrication and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A positive attitude and willingness to get involved in a variety of projects.
• Marine or boat building experience would be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right person.
