Job summary

Edwards Engineering Pty Ltd in Brookvale, NSW, is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator for full-time, on-site work in medium and heavy fabrication, including welding and assembly. Responsibilities

• Study drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Prepare stock and plan work for efficient completion.

• Shape and bend metal using hand and machine tools; set up punch and shear.
• Align parts and join using MIG welding, bolting or riveting.
• Inspect welds for bead width, penetration and quality.
• Finish welds and surfaces by grinding and chiselling.

Job Description

Edwards Engineering is looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator to join their expert team in Brookvale NSW 2100. This is a full-time role involving medium and heavy metal fabrication, including assembly, fabrication and welding. Key Duties:

• Studying workshop drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock, and planning work to complete it efficiently.
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, oxy-cutting torches, saws and guillotines.
• Shaping and bending metal sections using hand and machine tools, including setting up and using the punch and shear machine.
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Assembling and joining metal sections on medium and heavy fabrication work, using MIG welding, bolting and riveting.
• Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
• Cleaning, smoothing and finishing products and welds by grinding, filing and chiselling.

Requirements:

• At least one year experience as a Metal Fabricator or a similar position is strictly required.
• Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or a similar qualification is desirable but not essential for applicants with sufficient experience (at least 3 years experience as a Metal Fabricator is considered sufficient).
• Competent in MIG welding.
• Experience in medium and heavy fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings.
• Experience with grinding, oxy-cutting, sawing and guillotining, and setting up and using a punch and shear machine.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Positive attitude, and able to plan and work efficiently as part of a team.
• Immediate availability preferred.
