Job summary

BIG W is seeking a Merchandise Planner to balance data-driven forecasting with trading instincts. You will develop plans, forecasts, and parameters to ensure ranges have the right mix, quantity, and price across our store network.

This role sits in our Sydney hub with genuine hybrid flexibility, offering exposure to a global Woolworths Group network and opportunities to influence category performance and margins.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Planner, ideally in a large retail environment.
  • Experience trading a sizeable category across high SKU volumes, or planning a full category end to end.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn sales and inventory data into practical trading decisions.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and a record of hitting KPIs

Responsibilities

  • Develop merchandise financial plans using top-down and bottom-up data to drive category performance, sales, and profit.
  • Set option plan frameworks for Designers and Buyers, prepare range reviews for buy sign-off, and ensure stock is bought within plan parameters and OTB.
  • Manage in-season OTB, inventory, markdowns, and promotional plans to optimise stock turns and protect profit.
  • Track weekly trading and post-season performance, working with Buyers to act on trends, clear liabilities early, and improve results.
  • Build accurate models and rolling forecasts to support financial planning and peak trading events.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to keep range builds on track against the critical path schedule.
