Job summary

Eastern Guruma is seeking a dedicated Mentor to guide employees on-site, building confidence and supporting career growth across projects. You will coach individuals, facilitate onboarding, and work with supervisors to drive development plans in a dynamic mining environment.

The role emphasizes inclusive leadership, strong communication and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous communities.

Qualifications

• Must be Indigenous Australian.
• Must hold a current and valid driver’s licence.
• Certificate IV in Leadership and Mentoring (or similar) is desirable.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mentoring, coaching or a similar role.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Empathy, patience and a genuine passion for supporting others.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Comfortable working across site environments.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, respectful and trusting relationships with employees and mentees.
• Provide guidance, coaching and practical support to help employees overcome workplace challenges and build confidence.
• Support onboarding and integration of new employees, including site orientation.
• Assist employees with goal setting, development plans and performance improvement initiatives.
• Work with Project Managers and site leadership to support employee development.
• Maintain regular communication and provide reports on mentoring activities and progress.
• Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks and team discussions.
• Encourage a culture of inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to support employee growth and long-term success.
