Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a resilient Peer Support Worker to join the Clare Moore Building at Werribee Mercy Hospital. This role involves psychosocial support, recovery planning and advocacy within a multidisciplinary team committed to patient-centered care.

The successful candidate will have lived experience of mental ill-health, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and with colleagues. Enrolment in Intentional Peer Support Training is expected.

Qualifications

• A lived experience of mental ill-health and treatment within a mental health service.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial support to consumers and assist in safety planning.
• Participate in recovery/wellness planning and advocacy.
• Support consumers in understanding their rights and responsibilities.
• Contribute to information resources for consumers and their families.
