Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a consumer peer support worker to empower adults with mental health needs. You will work within the Clare Moore Building at Werribee Mercy Hospital, delivering psychosocial support, safety planning, recovery/wellbeing planning, and advocacy as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role focuses on empowering consumers to actively participate in their recovery, with a multidisciplinary approach and emphasis on peer support values.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of mental ill-health and treatment within a mental health service.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Completion of or enrolled to complete Intentional Peer Support Training.
• Awareness of wellbeing and self-care.
• A current driver's licence.
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check, evidence of right to work in Australia, and vaccination status as required.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to clinical reviews and multidisciplinary team activities.
• Assists consumers to understand rights and responsibilities.
• Supports recovery-oriented practice.
• Provides information to consumers and families/carers.
• Develops and reviews information resources for consumers and their families.
