Job summary

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Margaret Tobin Centre is seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to support bed management and patient flow. Reporting to the Nursing Director, you will connect clinical teams and oversee the patient journey to ensure safe, timely care across the organisation.

The role requires current nursing registration, a mental health qualification, and at least 3 years post-registration experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current practising certificate as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Must hold or be enrolled in an approved mental health course or qualification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating real-time patient flow across inpatient units, emergency pathways, and discharge processes to optimise bed utilisation.
• Collaborating with nursing, medical, and allied health teams to identify and resolve capacity or access barriers.
• Monitoring patient care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes.
• Monitoring and escalating emerging flow issues through SALHN protocols and communication frameworks.
• Supporting accurate data capture and reporting to inform operational decision-making at ward and executive level.
