Job summary

Manning Hospital, operated by Hunter New England Local Health District, seeks a senior Registered Nurse to lead the Patient Flow Team as Patient Flow Manager. You will coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges, using real-time data to optimise patient movement and care experiences.

This role reports to the Deputy Director of Nursing & Midwifery in a collaborative, supportive environment. You will guide staff, run daily flow huddles, address barriers, monitor performance against KPIs and

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Minimum 3 years post-graduate nursing experience.
• Postgraduate qualifications in clinical leadership or management, or undertaking relevant study.
• Demonstrated leadership within a clinical or hospital setting.
• Strong understanding of patient flow, admissions, transfers and discharge processes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow across departments using real-time information and proactive strategies.
• Lead daily patient flow huddles and facilitate timely admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Monitor patient flow and implement timely solutions for emerging issues.
• Collaborate with senior managers, Nurse Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage with patients and families to support coordinated care experiences.
• Identify barriers to timely movement and discharge and address them.
• Monitor service performance and contribute to KPIs.
• Support workforce and resource management efficiently.
• Provide leadership and development opportunities for staff.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives strengthening flow and quality.
• Promote collaboration, accountability and patient-centred care.
