Job summary

Kapsch is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Melbourne team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will manage complex infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, and networks, while ensuring security and patching compliance across multiple locations.

The role involves Level 2 escalation, on-call responsibilities, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors to deliver reliable IT services in a 24/7 operational environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in infrastructure or systems administration.
• Experience configuring Windows Servers, backup, recovery and monitoring systems.
• ITIL Foundation or vendor certifications preferred.
• Understanding of security fundamentals, vulnerability management, patching and certificates.
• Experience with Linux servers and networks (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VLANs, routing).

Responsibilities

• Act as Level 2 escalation point for infrastructure troubleshooting and remediation.
• Manage and maintain servers, virtual machines, hypervisors, storage systems, networks, and supporting software.
• Configure IT hardware across multiple locations; ensure cybersecurity alignment.
• Define, maintain, and update system manuals, configuration baselines, and operation procedures.
• Report on system performance, infrastructure status, and security updates for operational management review.
• Participate in planning new system implementations or operational transitions.
• Manage support renewals, licences, certificates, and third-party vendor engagements.
• Promote best practices and identify technical and operational improvement opportunities.
• Provide occasional after-hours support to assist RSS teams with urgent or critical incidents.
