Job summary

Kapsch invites an experienced Systems Administrator to join our Melbourne team on a full-time permanent basis. You will manage complex infrastructure projects in the transport technology space.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting, security hardening, server and VM management, and ensuring patching, backups and compliance across locations. A 24/7 on-call roster is part of the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in infrastructure, systems administration, or technical operations.
• Hands-on experience configuring, managing and supporting Windows Servers and Linux servers.
• Familiarity with virtualization, backups, monitoring, networks and security basics.

Responsibilities

• Act as Level 2 escalation point for infrastructure troubleshooting, diagnostics and remediation.
• Serve as SME for security hardening, vulnerability management, baselining cycles, and software upgrades.
• Manage and maintain servers, VMs, hypervisors, storage systems, networks, and supporting software.
• Configure and maintain IT hardware infrastructure across locations.
• Ensure systems align with cybersecurity requirements, patching schedules, and certificate management.
• Define, maintain, and update system manuals and baselines.
• Report on system performance, infrastructure status, and security updates.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware or software failures; coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
• Participate in planning and scoping of new system implementations.
• Manage renewals, licences, certificates, and third-party engagements.
• Promote best practices and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide occasional after-hours support; participate in 24/7 on-call roster.
